Fractional Er:YAG laser treatment with the Fotona platform addresses both red (early) and white (mature) stretch marks by stimulating collagen and remodelling the dermal scar pattern, with progressive improvement over a protocol of four to six sessions.
Book consultationRealistic expectations are essential. Stretch marks are a form of dermal scarring that does not disappear completely with current technology. The fractional Er:YAG laser improves the appearance — colour, texture, and depth — and reduces contrast with the surrounding skin. The result is improvement, not full disappearance. During consultation we discuss what is achievable with the protocol and design a plan accordingly so expectations match the technology.
Red stretch marks are usually more responsive because they are recent and still have an active component. The earlier the treatment is started, the better the prognosis. White, mature stretch marks also improve with fractional Er:YAG, but they generally require more sessions and the change is more textural than vascular. We adjust parameters to each clinical type during consultation in Miami.
A protocol of four to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is generally recommended. The exact number depends on the type, age, density, and location of the stretch marks, as well as the patient's response. Maintenance sessions once or twice a year may be considered to consolidate the result. The plan is reviewed at every follow-up so cadence and parameters stay aligned with the response observed.
