Frequently asked questions

Things people actually ask

How is Radiesse different from a hyaluronic acid filler?

Hyaluronic acid fillers add volume immediately and are reversible with hyaluronidase. Radiesse delivers instant volume thanks to its gel and stimulates long-term collagen thanks to the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres. Its profile is firmer, which makes it well suited for jawline, chin, and structural support, while hyaluronic acid is preferred for lips and very fine areas.

How long do the results of Radiesse last?

Most patients experience results that last between 12 and 18 months, depending on the area treated, the volume used, age, lifestyle, and sun exposure. Areas of high mobility may metabolise the product faster than static, structural zones. A maintenance touch-up once a year is generally recommended to preserve the contour and the collagen-related firming effect.

Is Radiesse safe for the face and hands?

Radiesse has been used in aesthetic medicine for many years and has a well-documented safety profile when administered by qualified clinicians. Calcium hydroxylapatite is biocompatible and gradually metabolised. As with any injectable, complications are possible, which is why a complete medical history, individual planning, and proper technique are essential at every visit.

Will I see results immediately?

Yes. The gel that carries the microspheres provides visible volume on the same day of the session. Over the following weeks, the additional collagen stimulation refines the result and improves skin firmness around the treated area. The combination of immediate effect and progressive maturation is one of the main reasons patients choose Radiesse.

Can Radiesse be used in the lips?

Radiesse is not recommended in the lips. Its rheological profile and biostimulator nature are not suited to such a mobile, thin-skin area. For lip enhancement we use hyaluronic acid fillers, which are softer, more malleable, and reversible. During your consultation in Miami, Ronal Perdomo, APRN, FNP-C will recommend the most suitable product for each anatomical area.

Is the procedure painful?

Discomfort is generally mild. We apply topical anaesthetic before treatment, and Radiesse is often mixed with lidocaine to numb the area as it is delivered. Cannula technique, where appropriate, further reduces both pain and bruising. Most patients describe the session as more comfortable than expected and resume normal activities right after leaving the clinic.

Can Radiesse be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Radiesse pairs very well with neuromodulators for dynamic lines, hyaluronic acid fillers for fine detail, and energy-based or skin-quality treatments such as Fotona laser, PRP, or mesotherapy. Sequencing is planned so that each treatment supports the next. During your consultation we design a personalised roadmap aligned with your aesthetic goals and timeline.

Who should not have Radiesse?

Radiesse is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in active skin infections in the area, in patients with a tendency to keloid scarring, with active autoimmune disease, or with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. A complete medical history is reviewed at every visit to confirm suitability and design the safest possible plan for each patient.
