PDRN skin regeneration therapy is a regenerative injectable protocol that uses polydeoxyribonucleotide — purified DNA fragments derived from salmon trout — to stimulate fibroblasts and support skin repair, performed in three to four sessions at our Miami medical spa.
Book consultationPDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. It is a regenerative active made of small, purified DNA fragments. Once injected into the dermis, it interacts with skin cells called fibroblasts and provides building blocks the skin reuses to repair itself. It does not add volume; it supports the skin's own regeneration.
No. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is prepared from a patient's own blood and works through growth factors released by platelets. PDRN is a standardised biological active derived from salmon-trout DNA. Both are regenerative, but they use different mechanisms and can sometimes be combined within a personalised plan.
PDRN is generally well tolerated and is often chosen for sensitive or reactive skin because of its calming, regenerative profile. As with any injectable, patients with fish allergy, autoimmune disease, active skin infection or pregnancy should not receive it. We complete a full medical history and skin assessment in consultation to confirm suitability.
PDRN is often used to support recovery after Fotona laser sessions, microneedling or peels. We usually wait until the skin has re-epithelialised and any open lesions have closed, which is typically five to ten days after the procedure. The exact timing is decided by Ronal Perdomo Lugo, APRN, FNP-C based on the laser used and your healing.
The standard protocol is three to four sessions, scheduled two to three weeks apart. Patients with significant sun damage or post-procedural needs may benefit from an additional session. After the initial cycle, a single maintenance session every four to six months helps preserve the regenerative effect and supports long-term skin quality.
Some patients notice a softer, more hydrated feel within a few days, but PDRN is fundamentally regenerative. The most meaningful improvements in firmness, tone and texture develop progressively over the protocol and peak around four to eight weeks after the final session. We document progress with standardised photos.
Yes, when sequenced correctly. PDRN improves skin quality at the dermal level, while neuromodulators such as Botox relax dynamic lines and fillers restore volume. We typically separate sessions by one to two weeks and design a personalised plan during your consultation so that each treatment supports the others.
